Home Health: Benefits, Pitfalls & Challenges
A Seminar Designed for PTs and OTs
A tremendous demographic and cultural shift is occurring which is having a major effect on home health care. The proportion and life expectancy of older Americans are increasing dramatically. This group is more likely to experience chronic illnesses and other disabling conditions that interfere with their ability to function independently. As the population ages and the growth of the working-age population slows down, we are already seeing increased demand for home health care services. In the past year, the home health care services industry has experienced a sales growth of 11.2% making it the fastest growing industry in the U.S. As fast as this demand is emerging so is the need for qualified therapists and clinicians to meet the need.
This crucial seminar is designed to give you the "how to" for providing high quality home health care services presenting a balance between the therapist, the care giver, and the patient to optimize success. A systematic approach to care will be presented for the top 5 diagnoses seen in the home care setting. It will add relevant, useful, creative tools to address the challenges presented when treating the home health care patient.
Attendees will receive instruction focused on medical screening and performing on site differential diagnoses. Whether it's addressing risk factors for falls, gait/balance disorders, orthopedic dysfunctions, or delivering interventions to improve activities of daily living, this course will prepare participants for delivering the next standard of geriatric care. You will return to your practice a better- rounded professional able to generate better quality of life with improved patient's outcome for this rapidly growing level of care.
